Most recently, as part of the next stage of Scotland’s bid to host The 2019 Solheim Cup, a team of Ladies European Tour officials inspected The Gleneagles Hotel.
They spent 2 days touring the hotel, golf courses and other facilities as well as hearing presentations from various partners involved in the bid, including EventScotland, The Scottish Government, Gleneagles, Perth & Kinross Council, Transport Scotland and Police Scotland.
It seems like the ‘inspectors’ were satisfied not only with the quality of the presentations and the experience of the team behind the bid, but also with the Gleneagles Hotel. In case Scotland will win the right to host The 2019 Solheim Cup, then it will be held at PGA Centenary Course of Gleneagles.
Scotland’s main rival Sweden would like to stage the event at the Bro Hof Slott Golf Club (its 2 golf courses were designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.; it staged Nordea Masters on the European Tour from 2010 to 2013). How Annika Sörenstam‘s support will help the Swedes to win The 2019 Solheim Cup??
I think Sweden should host The 2019 Solheim Cup, since you cannot hold every major golf championship in the UK. The final decision will be announced at the end of October.
