What would you sacrifice to play at Trump International Golf Links’ New Course?

The New Course at Trump International Golf Links in Scotland was unveiled by President Donald J. Trump on Tuesday, marking a significant milestone.

The grand opening ceremony brought together influential political figures, including Scotland’s First Minister, John Swinney, and esteemed guests from the golf industry, as well as celebrated professionals.

The President was gracefully piped to the first tee by the pipe band from Robert Gordon’s College, Aberdeen, creating a memorable and uplifting atmosphere.

What impressed me the most were:

  • The routing features three distinct terrain types: expansive wetlands, heather-clad heathland, and some of the largest sand dunes in Scotland.
  • Outstanding features: World’s largest natural bunker, cavernous sandy hollows, mountainous sand peaks, and infinity-edge greens hugging the dune ridges.
  • Built to a strong eco‑friendly specification: virtually all sand, stone, and soil were sourced on-site, with minimal external materials apart from irrigation breaks.
  • An innovative water system harnesses the benefits of wetlands and ponds for sustainable irrigation across the entire 36-hole course.

The facility features a second championship-level layout on-site, complementing the original Hawtree-designed “Old Course,” which was established in 2012.

Both courses are collectively marketed as “The Greatest 36 Holes in Golf.” This distinction is also evident in the pricing structure for green fees.

Premium rates for tee times on the New Course start at approximately £450 per round, with seasonal adjustments reducing the rate to £395 this October.

Furthermore, access for early 2026 is anticipated to be available starting at £300, with prices projected to increase to £560 by the following summer.

The course – 7589-yards – is the product of a well-structured design process led by Eric Trump, supported by a dedicated team of experienced golf architects, engineers, agronomists, and environmental consultants.

This project effectively builds upon the original links masterplan developed by renowned golf architect Dr. Martin Hawtree.

It has been successfully executed by the talented team at Golflink Evolve under the leadership of Esie O’Mahoney and Jamie O’Reilly.

Golf tournaments on the New Course

  • DP World Tour Nexo Championship 2025 will take place from August 7 to August 10.
