I’ve been eyeing the Foxhills Collection’s Farleigh Golf Club for a long time. After the Hayton family bought the golf club (the previous name was Farleigh Court, opened in 1997) 10 years ago they invested heavily in the club.
Just to get a better understanding of the investment. More than £5 million spent on refurbishing the clubhouse and golf courses.
The clubhouse refurbishment and remodelling included
- the installation of a number of contemporary meeting rooms and function spaces, which has seen it become a sought-after venue for corporate events and weddings, as well as the
- opening of the highly-regarded Nineteen bar and restaurant, renowned locally for its delicious Sunday carvery.
- On the course, a number of substantial enhancements have also been made over the years.
The 27-hole venue is home to three nine-hole courses, which can be played as three 18-hole loops, and all three have been revamped.
The course’s original architects, John Jacobs Associates, were brought back to upgrade the 350-acre layout.
The golf club invested as also in
- a couple of new fleets of greenkeeping equipment costing more than £1 million alone, as well as
- a new irrigation and drainage system that makes it one of the best winter courses in the area.
The club is proud of its ‘Farleigh Guarantee’ of no temporary greens or tees, meaning golfers can enjoy excellent course conditions at any time of the year in all weather conditions.
Farleigh Golf Club has got more than 600 members now on the books and more category one golfers than ever, thanks to the course conditions and competitive field.

I tried to find a figure regarding the UK market in vain. However, I am sure that eSports are popular in the UK too.
This tells it is good to consider to offer indoor golf simulators to our guests and members. Indoor simulators can be attractive to convince our kids to come with us to the golf club, but also when the weather is not in favor of playing golf.
For similar reasons, the Farleigh Golf Club invested in its indoor golf simulator.

Driving range experience – Farleigh Golf Club
At the same time, golf clubs like Farleigh Golf Club should rethink their attitude toward driving range experience. The classic way of running a driving range will lose from its attractiveness.
Already today golfers want to learn more about their games on the course (e.g. by Arccos Golf), but on the driving range as well.
To earn/win golfers’ and other guests’ leisure time we must enable them to measure their games’ performance and at the same time offer them entertainment solutions too.
