The Bernhard Academy has launched its golf course management workshop for golf club managers!

The Bernhard Academy, in partnership with the Golf Club Managers’ Association (GCMA), launched its inaugural Golf Course Management for Golf Club Managers workshop—a pivotal element of the GCMA’s innovative Advanced Management Certificate program.

Set in the inspiring environment of the Bernhard Academy facility at Moortown Golf Club in Leeds.

This three-day workshop united eight passionate golf club managers eager to enhance their understanding of golf course operations and their vital role in driving club success.

Led by the expert team at the Bernhard Academy, this program offered intensive training in

  • course management principles,
  • budgeting and finance,
  • and sustainable practices.

It was meticulously crafted to fill the knowledge gap between club managers and course managers, fostering stronger collaboration and operational harmony.

Phil Helmn, Programme Leader for Agronomy, Leadership and Management at the Bernhard Academy, led the sessions with passion and insight.

He highlighted golf course managers’ vital role in understanding technical and strategic responsibilities, illustrating how effective partnerships with the club’s leadership team are key to achieving remarkable success.

The workshop concluded with valuable contributions from GCMA partners and industry experts. Notable contributors included

  • Dr. Marie Athorn of the RSPB,
  • Jimmy Sandison of Rain Bird, and
  • BIGGA’s Jim Croxton and Scott Reeves shared inspiring best practices and real-world insights on sustainable practices and meaningful relationships.
