Quintero Golf Club Reimagined: Upgrades Every Golfer Will Appreciate

By: November 6, 2025

Quintero Golf Club, long celebrated as one of the Top 100 Public Courses in the United States, has reopened to public play after completing a multi-million-dollar renovation project.

The five-month restoration effort, which began on June 2 and culminated in a reopening on November 1, marks the most significant update to the Peoria, Arizona, property since it first welcomed golfers in 2000.

The project was led by the original course architect, Rees Jones, known worldwide as “The Open Doctor” for his work in preparing championship venues.

This comprehensive renovation strengthens Quintero’s reputation as one of the Southwest’s premier golf destinations, enhancing both playability and the guest experience while preserving the course’s dramatic desert setting and strategic design.

Rebuilt Greens for Superior Performance

At the heart of the renovation is a complete reconstruction of all 18 green complexes.

Working alongside crews from Total Turf, Quintero Golf Club (7,249-yard, par 72 layout) resurfaced each green using 007XL Bentgrass—a modern turf variety prized for its drought tolerance, disease resistance, and smooth putting performance.

Golfers will now enjoy more consistent speeds and improved year-round conditioning, even in the region’s challenging climate.

Additionally, greenside irrigation was upgraded across the property, ensuring precise water coverage and long-term turf sustainability.

Upgraded Tees and Bunkers for a Refined Playing Experience

Quintero’s tee boxes also received a significant refresh. Each was laser-leveled to restore original playing surfaces and resurfaced with 419 Bermuda grass, providing firm footing and crisp, clean turf conditions.

The club’s 65 bunkers underwent complete renovation, including:

  • Improved drainage systems
  • Installation of modern bunker liners
  • Refill with new Augusta white sand for visual contrast and consistent playability

These enhancements not only elevate play quality but also renew the stunning visual appeal that has made Quintero famous among golf travelers and photographers alike.

Practice Facilities Elevated to Match Championship Standards

Quintero Golf Club’s expansive practice facility received the same attention to detail found on the course. Crews leveled and resurfaced the practice tee and rebuilt the practice green using 007XL Bentgrass.

The improvements provide a seamless transition from warm-up to course play, ensuring consistency in turf conditions from the first shot to the final putt.

Enhanced Lodging and Clubhouse Amenities

Beyond the golf course, Quintero invested in refreshed guest experiences throughout the property:

Stay-and-Play Units:
  • Updated kitchens and bathrooms
  • New furniture
  • New flooring and paint throughout
Clubhouse & Golf Shop:
  • Modernized décor and furnishings
  • Updated countertops and merchandise displays
  • Renovated men’s and women’s restrooms

These upgrades ensure that Quintero Golf Club’s off-course amenities match the quality and comfort of the course itself, positioning the club as a premier stay-and-play destination in the Southwest.

Course Access During Grow-In

While the newly overseeded course has reopened, play is currently restricted to cart paths only for several weeks to allow the new ryegrass to mature fully.

This temporary measure protects turf health and ensures the high conditioning standards golfers expect from Quintero Golf Club.

A New Chapter for a Desert Golf Gem

With thoughtful architectural oversight, state-of-the-art turf improvements, and refreshed amenities, Quintero Golf Club has successfully elevated its playing conditions and guest experience while staying true to its original identity.

The result is a refined, resilient, and visually stunning course primed to impress returning guests and first-time visitors alike.

Golfers seeking dramatic desert scenery, strategic play, and top-tier course conditions will find Quintero better than ever—and well worth the return trip.
