Gut Altentann is set to host the thrilling new Austrian Alpine Open on the DP World Tour

By: May 13, 2025

The Austrian Alpine Open, presented by SalzburgerLand, will take place from May 29 to June 1, 2025.

This thrilling event continues the legacy of the DP World Tour in Austria, building on the tradition established since 2010 at the Diamond Country Club, where the Austrian Open has inspired and captivated fans and players alike.

Did you know: In 1990 – 1992 the Austrian Open was staged at Golf Club Gut Altentann. It was the host venue for the very 1st Austrian Open on the DP World Tour (then still known as the European Tour) in 1990.

Golf Club Gut Altentann, established in 1989, is a semi-private golf club with an exceptional golfing experience on its Jack Nicklaus-designed course.

The organizers of the Austrian Alpine Open are excited about the possibility of Sepp Straka‘s participation, as he represents a significant milestone in Austrian golf.

Straka recently achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the first Austrian to reach the top 10 in the world golf rankings, following his victory at the Truist Championship on May 11, 2025.

In 2014, Bernd Wiesberger made significant strides for Austrian golf at the PGA Championship in Valhalla, Kentucky, by becoming the first Austrian to compete in the final group alongside Rory McIlroy.

His performance, finishing in 14th place after an exciting final round, showcases his potential and sets a positive precedent for future Austrian golfers.

The Austrian Golf Association is actively endorsing this initiative and is highly anticipating its potential outcomes.

This project presents our professional players and elite amateurs with the exceptional opportunity to perform before a domestic audience while also acquiring invaluable experience.

2025 Austrian Alpine Open – Sustainability

Learning more about the Austrian Alpine Open’s sustainability strategy would be beneficial. It would be fantastic if they could adopt the DP World Tour’s Green Drive program as part of their initiatives.

Additionally, I hope that the players participating in the tournament will recognize the impact of climate change on the sport they cherish.

Seeing them utilize their platforms to advocate for climate action and promote sustainability would be inspiring.
