How memorable is the Stay & Golf experience at Peak Edge Hotel & Stanedge Golf Club?

By: November 6, 2025

Last year, I also experienced (I had a Hungarian golf club client) how challenging it can be for a golf club without its own hotel or other accommodations to attract golf tourists.

Thus, it makes it hard to persuade foreign golf tourists and travel agencies to visit a specific golf club and bring their groups there.

Fortunately, Stanedge Golf Club has formed a partnership with the Peak Edge Hotel, a charming 4-star boutique hotel.

For many golfers, a great trip is about more than just teeing it up on a beautiful course. In fact, the most memorable golf vacations today are those that combine convenience, comfort, and character—creating a seamless experience where every detail is taken care of.

This is where a strong golf package truly shines.

In 2025, golf travelers are seeking comprehensive resort experiences. They want to relax, indulge, and enjoy the surroundings beyond the fairways.

This means the destination matters just as much as the golf course. What truly elevates a stay-and-play package are the thoughtful touches that make it feel unique.

Some favorites include:

  • Access to exclusive dining experiences
  • Club rentals or equipment upgrade options
  • Guaranteed premium tee times
  • Private lessons or coaching sessions
  • Guided tours, local adventures, or cultural excursions

How well can the Peak Edge Hotel and Stanedge Golf Club’s Stay & Play experience meet these expectations?

Stay & Play Experience

Their partnership appears to be a great fit, offering several benefits, particularly given their location—just a 20-minute drive from Chesterfield.

The distance between the hotel and the club is only 700 meters.

Peak Edge Hotel is a boutique countryside hotel with 27 bedrooms and an award-winning restaurant, The Red Lion.

Stanedge Golf Club is an independent 10-hole (18-tee) course on the edge of the Peak District, known for its friendly atmosphere, far-reaching views, and inclusive ethos.

However, if proximity is a key factor for you and you prefer the golf course to be just a 2-minute walk from your accommodation, you might want to explore other stay-and-play packages.

If you continue to see potential in their offer, here are the details:

  • Stay & Golf will be available from 1st March 2026, just in time for the new golf season.
  • The package includes an overnight stay in a Superior Room, breakfast, a pre-booked tee time at Stanedge Golf Club, and 10% off à la carte dining at The Red Lion.
  • Guests are also welcome to book golf at Stanedge separately – there’s no requirement to book a Stay & Golf package – and non-residents are invited to enjoy The Red Lion and bar at Peak Edge, perfect for post-round drinks or dinner with friends.

My verdict

Stanedge Golf Club and Peak Edge Hotel have effectively capitalized on their opportunities.

This package offers an excellent option for families with children seeking to spend quality time together, as well as for those interested in exploring golf for the first time.

Additionally, it would be beneficial to consider incorporating some engaging activities in the area, such as the Stone Edge Cupola, to enhance the overall experience.
