At the beginning of this month, I showed you TaylorMade MyMG2 personalized wedges, now it is time to show what Callaway JAWS MD5 Raw Wedges ($159.99 each; Available from 6/4/2020) can offer us in terms of design and performance.
The intention of the Callaway Golf R&D team with the development of JAWS Groove (see picture below) was to take spin and control to the next level.
The JAWS MD5 Raw features our proprietary JAWS groove, elevating the groove-edge sharpness to a new level, for maximum grip and spin from all types of lies. JAWS grooves are particularly effective from 80 yards and in, producing a player preferred “one hop and stop” trajectory.
Each JAWS groove is rendered to the tightest tolerances we’ve ever achieved, promoting consistent spin-rates from shot to shot.
JAWS MD5 Raw is constructed from 8620 mild carbon steel and the Center of Gravity of the wedges is precisely placed to create a soft, yet substantial feel.
New T Grind (in 58* and 60) is an increasingly popular choice on Tour, with a crescent sole, slightly thicker topline, and higher CG for controlled ball flight. The X Grind (in 54 and 56*) is a higher bounce option that promotes better shot-making.
