I must admit I have never heard before about LA Golf shafts. When I am thinking of golf shafts then usually the following brands come to my mind: Nippon Shaft, True Temper, KBS Golf, Aldila, Mitsubishi, Fujikura.
Then I found out that LA Golf is a start-up company aiming to attract young, athletic long hitters like Dustin Johnson or Bryson DeChambeau to enable them to be more athletic and aggressive in their game.
Currently, Bryson DeChambeau is leading the longest hitters’ list on the PGA Tour: 322,70 yards. Dustin Johnson’s best record is “only” 314,40 yards.

Johnson has also become a major shareholder and will join the Board of Directors alongside
- defending U.S. Open Champion Bryson DeChambeau,
- TV personality Amanda Balionis,
- entertainer Kelley James,
- Duck Commander’s Willie Robertson, and
- Marucci Sports CEO Kurt Ainsworth.
In the last few months alone, over 20 top Tour players, including six Major champions have put LA Golf in play, with a host of others in line to collaborate on a custom design structure.
LA Golf is the only shaft manufacturer where each structure is co-designed with players and built in the USA. Unlike mass-market shafts, LA Golf is a small batch, premium supplier of performance-driven and technologically advanced shafts.
LA Golf’s unique manufacturing process and performance attributes are inspired from insights directly from the Tour’s best ball strikers, and allows everyday golfers to swing harder, while achieving greater accuracy.
In 1998, the USGA mandated a maximum COR of .82 in driver’s faces. Within a few years, dramatic distance gains in drivers had disappeared.
