As it was expected many golf equipment manufacturers want to utilize the upcoming US Open Championship at Merion Golf Club. Wilson Staff is not an exception to this. I can understand them.
Their offer is pretty classic/old school: "limited number of US Open Championship inspired Wilson Staff D100 iron sets. Matrix Studio 6.1 graphite shafts with American flag accents as well as red Lamkin R.E.L. 3GEN grips were combined with the red and blue Wilson Staff D100 club head to reflect this major-inspired design." This is the same promotional mechanism what they used in the Master Tournament 2013.
Doug Thiel Global Director of Marketing at Wilson Staff expects: "to drive consumer excitement and awareness around both the major as well as the Wilson Staff D100 irons" from this offer. Personally I don't see any reason to get/be excited although I like Wilson Staff. Their offer is boring. They should add next time may be a free 1 week training with a leading golf trainer like Butch Harmon or David Leadbetter.
In the previous US Open Championship in 2012, TaylorMade used a much modern and forward thinking idea to utilize social media via Twitter. Although this has one drawback: you cannot enter with your smartphone or tablet or PDA to Merion Golf Club during the US Open Championship.
Anyway, it is a good chance to win Wilson Staff D100 irons:
