It is important to give equal attention to men’s and women’s golf tournaments. We should support and promote women’s golf tournaments so that they become as successful and popular as men’s golf tournaments.

That’s why I wanted to share the details of the 5th VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open with you.

The 5th VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open will take place from June 28th to 30th, 2024. It will bring together the finest female golfers from the Ladies European Tour to compete for a prize of 300,000 Euros at the Migros Golfpark Holzhäuser.

This tournament is widely regarded as the most valuable and significant Swiss event for professional female golfers.

The defending champion, 24-year-old Alexandra Försterling, made history by achieving her first-ever victory on the Ladies European Tour in Holzhäuser.

She is a true inspiration to all aspiring golfers. She won three impressive tour victories in her second season as a professional golfer, including the Mallorca Ladies Open in Spain and the recent Aramco Team Series in Tampa, FL/USA.

Försterling’s success has placed her among the top contenders for a starting place in the Solheim Cup, which will be held in the USA next September.

VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open – a sustainable golf tournament?

The VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open organizer started the certification process to obtain the international environmental label “GEO Certified Tournament” around 18 months ago.

If you go to the tournament in June, you will see – thanks to BWT (an event partner) – a temporarily installed freshwater system and reusable drinking bottles.

To limit traffic for the over 220 players, caddies, coaches, and the 50-strong TV crew, the event organizers have devised an organized personal transport system.

Additionally, guidelines will be placed in the catering area to combat food waste and an extensive waste management plan for the event days.

Pit Kälin, the manager of Holzhäuser Golfpark, mentioned that the park has already been GEO-Certified for over two years.
