The Millenium Hospitality has acquired 90,000 square meters for 33.2 million Euros in the estate known as La Hacienda de San Roque in 2019. Today it is called La Hacienda Alcaidesa Links Golf Resort.
With this acquisition Millenium Hospitality also acquired Alcaidesa Holding and Alcaidesa Golf:
- 50,000 square meter plot of land for residential and hotel use,
- 2 golf courses (Alcaidesa Links and Alcaidesa Heathland),
- a clubhouse with more than 5,000 square meters (Azotea Group will be in charge of the restoration and management).
The Texas-based golf course architect Kurtis Bowman has redesigned the Links Course. Originally the course was designed by Peter Alliss and Clive Clark that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and Rock of Gibraltar.
The Alcaidesa Heathland was designed by the renowned former Ryder Cup player, Dave Thomas. Both are 18-hole, par-72 layouts.
Among the changes, you will find new greens and bunkers. The primary aims of the project included improving course conditions and to ensure sustainability is at the heart of operations at the resort.
Located in the Cadiz municipality of San Roque, close to Sotogrande, the Links course is scheduled to open in June 2022.
A new contemporary clubhouse, driving range, and practice area have already been completed ahead of the golf course reopening this summer, while the development of a five-star hotel with 150 rooms, a halfway house with a restaurant, 51 luxury villas, and a beach club will mark the next phase of the project.
I heard that Fairmont is likely to operate the five-star hotel.
