People who have a good understanding of the unique features of the Cabot Collection and its golf portfolio will appreciate why the Norwegian Lofoten Links was chosen.
The Cabot Collection portfolio includes
- Cabot Cape Breton in Nova Scotia, Canada,
- Cabot Saint Lucia in the Caribbean,
- Cabot Revelstoke in British Columbia, Canada,
- Cabot Highlands in Scotland,
- Cabot Citrus Farms in Florida, USA, and
- Cabot Bordeaux in Bordeaux, France.
Lofoten Links stands out above the Arctic Circle as the world’s northernmost links-style golf course.
Ranked No. 24 in the world by Golf Digest and No. 88 in the world by Golf Magazine, its dramatic scenery and remote coastline provide a breathtaking backdrop for golf enthusiasts.
The fabled course is known for its challenging yet rewarding design. It features 18 holes playable under the midnight sun in the summer and the northern lights in the fall.
It is fair to say that finding such a unique golf course worldwide is hard.
The property offers a variety of cozy, Nordic-style lodges designed to complement the striking scenery and a charming restaurant on site.
Lofoten Links presents many activities for discerning travelers seeking authenticity and adventure, including horseback riding, hiking, and kayaking.
Situated on the island’s northern edge and facing directly north towards the Norwegian Sea, the property is perfectly positioned to see the northern lights, one of nature’s most dazzling phenomena.
Following the acquisition, will Troon be able to provide ongoing assistance to Lofoten Links?
Luxury travel & hospitality
I must share a recent McKinsey study about luxury travelers and hospitality with you. It’s important to recognize that the landscape of luxury travel is evolving.
The demand for luxury tourism and hospitality is projected to grow faster than any other travel segment today. It’s crucial to understand that luxury travelers are not a homogenous group.
Segmenting people based on age, nationality, and net worth can reveal diverse and changing preferences and behaviors.
For instance, 35% of the luxury travel market consists of travelers with net worths ranging from $100,000 to $1 million.
Luxury means different things to travelers at different wealth levels. High-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), with assets ranging between $1 million and $5 million, tend to trust boutique travel agents, seek privacy and exclusivity, and favor exotic destinations.
Very-high-net-worth individuals (VHNWIs), with assets ranging between $5 million and $30 million, are relatively more likely to book large suites to preserve intimacy and tranquility, prefer end-to-end experiences steeped in local ambiance, and may be less focused on hotel brand names.
Ultrahigh-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs) with more than $30 million in assets prefer quiet luxury with personalized service.
They target remote, private destinations accessible via private airports or helipads that feature tailored experiences available nowhere else.
Hence, I am inquisitive to witness the evolution of Lofoten Links within the Cabot Collection and its future path.
