Somehow in the last couple of years I have not heard a lot about Scandinavian and especially Swedish golf events. (I found 13 Swedish PGA Tour players.) OK, except one case: Henrik Stenson became part of the Callaway Golf team.
So I was surprised to hear the Nordea Tour winter series will be held in Lumine Golf Club. It will be held from 28th February to 2nd March. Guaranteed prize money if 130 players is € 48,000 per tournament.
For Nordea golf is not a new sport sponsorship area. Last year event they extended its title sponsorship of the Scandinavian Masters European Tour golf tournament for the next 3 years. Bringing down Nordea Tour to Spain can bring them more coverage unlike in frosty Sweden. Other positive yield of this event is familiarizing Europeans with Nordea. This is in line with their objective to turn Nordea to a European bank.
My only question is why did they choose Lumine Golf Club instead of the award winning PGA Catalunya Golf Club?
