Galgorm Castle Golf Club’s new ambassador

By: February 10, 2014

Although Galgorm Castle Golf Club is one of Northern Ireland's best golf course, I haven't heard a lot about it. I knew that Galgorm Castle Golf Club was the first to host the PGA EuroPro Tour in Northern Ireland during 2010. In addition to this it is the home of the Northern Ireland Open.

To boost awareness and visibility of the golf club, Galgorm Castle Golf Club has announced that five-time European Tour winner Michael Hoey will represent as its new touring professional. This is just one part of Galgorm Castle Golf Club's business objective.

But who is Michael Hoey?

When I am writing this post, his OWGR rank is: 231th place. At the end of last year he was in the 247th place. At the same time he has got some great victories as well:

  • Challenge Tour wins – 4
  • European Tour wins – 5

Will it be enough to be in the golf news and golf media?

In my previous post I have already highlighted the importance of sponsored professional golfer should be part of the company's social CRM as well where they are not just the face of the brand in an ad, but who can walk the talk of the brand values and explain why and how to play golf with a specific golf club (in this instance: why it is great to play in Galgorm Castle Golf Club).

So the question is Galgorm Castle Golf Club:

  • Will be able include Michael Hoey in its social CRM or not?
  • Will they train Michael Hoey to meet this expectation as well? Did the included in their sponsorship deal?

I think they should do it if they want to turn the Northern Ireland Open to a lasting annual event for Northern Ireland.

In the meantime, Galgorm Castle Golf Club has opened their Creative Gardens plus Eagle Bar & Grill as part of their £8million redevelopment programme.
