Can female PGA teaching professionals boost women’s participation?

By: November 9, 2015

Natalie Clarke (former Ladies European Tour golfer who also worked with Pete Cowen) the only female PGA qualified teaching professional in Derbyshire has joined the Breadsall Priory Marriott Hotel & Country Club. Their intention is to develop women’s golf in the local area.

I can only welcome the idea, since female golfers‘ participation in the UK is one of the lowest in Europe (14% according to KPMG; England Golf says 13% of all golfers, aged 15 years plus (SMS, 2013), with 113,300 females participating on a once a week basis, as measured by the Active People Survey (APS8 Q2) ).

Breadsall Priory also plans to run a series of ladies evenings and introductory clinics in the coming months. I would also recommend to check England Golf‘s advice how to improve and support women’s participation in golf.
