I prefer those pro-am golf tournaments, where I can not only enjoy the golf tournament itself and the services of the hosting golf club, but also the local culture.
A golf tournament hosted by a colorful and exciting region & golf club – such as Antognolla Golf Club in Umbria – can provide a much richer experience.
Antognolla Golf Club is not so cut off from the world. Perugia International Airport receives Ryanair, British Airways, Transavia (among the others) direct flights from London, Vienna, Brussels, Rotterdam, Barcelona, etc. It can be exciting to come by car and enjoy the beauty of the Umbria region too.
Umbria is known as the “green heart of Italy” because of its lush green hills, fertile farmland, green valleys, wooded hills, and mountains, the landscape is very reminiscent of Tuscany.
The Confederation of Professional Golf [CPG] has just signed a three-year partnership with the Antognolla Golf Club. As part of the partnership, Antognolla Golf Club will host the Antognolla International Pro-Am by +Energia from 01 – 04 November 2022.
I already shared with you in April, but I would like to tell you again that the Antognolla Golf Club has got a Robert Trent Jones Jr.-design golf course: 18 holes, 6071m, par-71. Those of us who had played there before knows how picturesque/instagrammable is every hole of the golf course.
Antognolla Golf Club has already hosted two major golf tournaments:
- 2019 PGA Italian Championship,
- 2021 Antognolla Alps Open (as part of the 2021 Alps Tour).
My friends especially like the par-5 8th hole because of its 40-meter height difference, and the ravine in the middle of the ravine.
My favorite is the 2nd hole since it requires accuracy over distance and the green is undulating and guarded on the left and right by bunkers.
