Five years have passed since I covered the Hoiana Shores Golf Club inauguration in Vietnam.
During that time, I conducted a brief interview with Ben Styles, the Vice President of Golf at the time (he currently serves as the global development director at 54).
Our discussion focused on the golf club’s development project and the associated business challenges.
This is why I am happy to share with you that Hoiana Shores can host the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific (WAAP) championship from March 6 to 9, 2025.
This will mark Vietnam’s inaugural championship hosting, which has served as the platform for launching the careers of three major champions: Yuka Saso, Patty Tavatanakit, Ayaka Furue, and former world number one Jeeno Thitikul.
The Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific (WAAP) strives to inspire future generations of women golfers and offers the champion life-changing opportunities.
The winner will be exempted from three women’s majors and other elite amateur championships. The champion will be invited to compete in the AIG Women’s Open, Amundi Evian Championship, and Chevron Championship.
The winner will also be invited to participate in the Hana Financial Group Championship, ISPS Handa Australian Open, The 122nd Women’s Amateur Championship, and, by tradition, the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.
