I tend to ask myself when I hear about a new golf equipment: Is this a face lifting or something really new?
Last year’s major-winning Callaway Mack Daddy 2 Wedges was received very positively by many golfers. Probably one negative remark was the head size. It is noticeably smaller than of many other companies' wedges. I think this can be problem for those regular golfers whose swing technique is immature.
The new Callaway Mack Daddy 2 Wedges is the combination of the previous edition combined with several new key features, like the Tour validated shape and Tour grind. The premium forged design gives you even pinpoint control.
The new Tour grind (T grind) is a shallow design where the relief is ground form the heel and toe. This wedge has a new shape with a straighter leading edge, this leads to better turf interaction.
What is unchanged is the large grooves (39% larger than regular grooves) that is approved by USGA and R&A. One of the latest trends in the golf industry is adding additional micro grooves (see picture below).
