We can all agree that the Wilson Staff D7 club family was a huge success in 2019. The new Wilson Staff D9 irons fit well to the evolution process that started with the award-winning Wilson Staff FGTour V6 & C300 & C300 Forged irons.
Wilson Staff D9 irons – details & changes
Wilson Staff’s Power Holes were first introduced in January of 2016 in the C200 irons. In the previous version (Wilson Staff D7 irons) the Power Holes proved that they are able to contribute to the performance of the golfer.
The new Wilson Staff D9 irons will continue to have them but with the Power Holes 2.0 edition.
The new version of Power Holes are strategically positioned, urethane-filled Power Holes enable maximum face flex for improved speeds.
The new Power Hole 2.0 arrangements increase deflection and allow more energy transfer to the ball, across the entire face. This means effortlessly higher speeds and greater distance.
2 other technology changes
- Low Center Of Gravity: Wilson’s lowest-ever center of gravity in an iron improves both launch and spin characteristics for increased workability and consistent confidence all around the golf course.
- Performance Iron Aesthetic: With straighter lines, a cleaner top line, and an ultra-thin face, D9 irons combine the look of a player’s iron with the benefits of super game improvement distance technology.
“In player testing against some of the leading competitors in the golf industry, Wilson Staff D9 irons consistently performed better across all relevant metrics, including a 2mph advantage in ball speed and a full 8-yard difference in carrying distance*.”
*Based on player testing against leading competitors conducted by Wilson Golf at Ruffled Feathers, IL between July 1, 2020, and August 2, 2020.

Although I miss the use of tungsten (like in the Wilson Staff CB irons) in the new Wilson Staff D9 irons, but thumbs up for Wilson Golf for these new irons!
