How will the new COBRA Golf KING TEC irons enhance golfers’ performance?

By: November 5, 2024

COBRA Golf has introduced its new KING TEC irons, specifically designed to help golfers with a handicap of 20 or less improve their performance on the course.

KING TEC IRONS

The new KING TEC irons, aimed at 0-12 handicaps looking for the ultimate player’s distance iron, feature newly refined shaping with a shortened blade length, softened topline, “tucked toe,” and updated PW with a flattened topline and straighter leading edge.

The improved feel is provided through a 5-step forged hollow clubhead construction and enhanced foam microspheres that fill the clubhead and dampen vibration for improved acoustics without sacrificing the feedback players desire.

While other forged irons have traditionally used a four-step process, COBRA® utilizes a fifth forging strike to deliver an unmatched soft feel and precise shaping.

During the final fifth step, each iron head is subjected to 2000 tons of pressure at 700 degrees Celsius, forming an extremely uniform grain structure.

After cooling, each clubhead is polished and made ready for the faces and grooves to be precision milled using a CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) machine.

Built with a Forged PWRSHELL face insert with a thinner and more robust H.O.T Face Variable Thickness Geometry, the new KING TEC irons produce more rebound for faster speed at impact and longer distance.

For added forgiveness, 20g of tungsten is placed in the low heel area of the clubhead to minimize clubhead twisting at impact.

A progressive construction design features tungsten in the 4-7 irons for improved launch and carry. At the same time, the 8-GW are tungsten-free for a slightly more penetrating trajectory and enhanced accuracy in the scoring zone.

The KING TEC irons ($1299/7-piece set) are available in 4-PW with KBS $-Taper Lite steel shafts and Lamkin Crossline grips. LH models are available through custom only.

KING TEC-X IRONS

Designed for 10-20 handicappers looking for a premium player game improvement iron, the KING TEC-X provides enhanced distance and forgiveness in a pleasing and relatively compact package.

Featuring a slightly larger profile than the KING TEC, the KING TEC-X has a rounder and sleeker topline and reduced visual offset compared to the previous generation.

The improved feel is provided by softer and lighter foam microspheres that fill the hollow clubhead, dampen vibration at impact, and improve acoustics.

Like the KING TEC, the KING TEC-X design also incorporates Cobra’s PWRSHELL H.O.T. Face with a thinner face insert with Variable Thickness Geometry, creating faster ball speeds and more overall distance.

A 70g tungsten weight is suspended low in the clubhead for a lower CG and improved stability and forgiveness on off-center hits.

The suspended weight also allows the sole and face to flex freely, enhancing ball speed and distance.

The KING TEC-X irons ($1299/7-piece set) are available in 5-GW with KBS TOUR LITE steel shafts and Lamkin Crossline grips. LH models are available through custom only.

The new Cobra Golf KING TEC irons will be available from November 8.
