The current pandemic triggered consumers – among them golfers – to make a great life refresh by changing and rebooting their lifestyles. Travel restrictions, covid testing requirements, and complicated bureaucracy in 2020 and 2021 have facilitated the rise of staycation.
Golf clubs like the Slovenian Royal Bled are challenged if they can come up with innovative services and experiences that respond to this phenomenon. Those activities will succeed that positively impact mental and physical health (E.g., adoption of mindfulness mobile apps like Calm and Headspace is surging).
As we know “golf provides mental wellbeing benefits, research highlights that golf can help individuals improve their confidence, self-esteem and anxiety levels.” It is also known golf can be effective in treating mild-moderate depression.
Here is another interesting phenomenon related to the current epidemic: bleisure travelers & hotel workspaces.
Golf clubs and resorts like Royal Bled should provide value and support personal growth in order to convince and impress golfers and travelers. What you still need to pay close attention to extreme personalization and unique experiences.
Those who choose Royal Bled as their next golf holiday destination will be enjoy several unique experiences like
- The Vintgar Gorge – the most intact nature of Bled in the first arranged gorge for tourists in Slovenia.
- The Lake of Bled – it is a thermal water lake. The lake is only 4 km away from Royal Bled. It is 2,120 m (6,960 ft) long and 1,380 m (4,530 ft) wide, with a maximum depth of 29.5 m (97 ft), and it has a small island. The lake lies in a picturesque environment, surrounded by mountains and forests. Medieval Bled Castle stands above the lake on the north shore and has a museum.
- Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia was the European Green Capital in 2016, 2017.
- Fishing and Fly Fishing at nearby rivers and lakes.
- Various Horse-riding options in the area with hippodrome Lesce only 2 km away from Royal Bled.
And now we arrive in Royal Bled, where we find 18 and a 9-hole golf courses. The 18-hole Championship golf course is called the King’s Course because it was built in 1937 upon the wish of the Yugoslav Royal Family Karađorđević. Even the Duke of York played here.
Royal Bled – golf experience
The course was re-designed in 1972 by Donald Harradine. The golf course went through an extensive renovation between 2015-2017 by Swan Golf Designs. The works encompassed the redesign and reconstruction of all greens, tees and bunkers, the addition of ten new lakes and the installation of one of Europe’s most advanced irrigation systems.
In addition, a comprehensive practice facility was created, with a double-ended range, two practice chipping and bunker greens, a 1000m2 putting green as well as a pro-teaching suite kitted out with the latest video analysis and ball tracking technology.
The course now measures 7275 yards from the back tees but, with at least four tees on each hole, is accessible to all standards of play.
Royal Bled’s unique location conveys a feeling of tranquility, as one is surrounded with Slovenian Alps and the idyllic countryside.
If you want to improve your game, but a golf academy is not enough, then you can still take advantage of the fitness & wellness services of Royal Bled by using the state-of-the art fitness equipment Matrix and Technogym.
Wine fans and collectors attention! Perhaps few people know that the Royal Bled Clubhouse has a very serious and sophisticated wine cellar where we can keep our favorite wines.
After the extensive renovation of King’s House, they can accommodate well bleisure travelers with its workspaces in the hotel rooms.
I hope it is now clear why I am so fond of Royal Bled.
