I have got the impression that Rosewood Hotels & Resorts (30 hotels at this moment & 24 under construction) is intentionally looking for properties away from tourist epicenters. One of the elements of the formula for luxury hotels has changed. Today’s client is looking for an immersive, stand-out experience.
This description fits Robertson Lodge properties very well. So it is not surprising that Rosewood Hotels & Resorts will operate all three Robertson Lodge properties in New Zealand:
- Rosewood Kauri Cliffs in Matauri Bay,
- Rosewood Cape Kidnappers in Hawke’s Bay, and
- Rosewood Matakauri in Queenstown.
The Robertson family will maintain ownership; all three of its New Zealand holdings have joined this portfolio of one-of-a-kind hotels, resorts, and residences, each inspired by what Rosewood calls A Sense of Place.
This philosophy means that the distinctive ethos of each destination is woven into the identity of its respective property.
Rosewood Matakauri, located on New Zealand’s South Island, does not feature a golfing component.
On the North Island, Director of Golf Ray Geffre will continue to oversee operations at Cape Kidnappers Golf Course in the southeastern wine region and Kauri Cliffs in the Northland.
These sister properties will launch a dedicated golf website in early 2024.
