I’ve found two intriguing pieces of information highlighting a shift in the travel industry. The 2025 Hilton Trends Report reveals that solo leisure travelers, known as “MeMooners,” are set to transform the landscape, urging the industry to acknowledge their unique spending power and influence.
It’s encouraging that 55% of Gen Z and 51% of Millennials embrace solo travel, indicating a growing trend that could lead to new business opportunities for businesses catering to this emerging demographic.
In contrast, Glencor Golf Holidays has experienced an impressive surge of 157% in bookings from couples seeking golf holidays, highlighting a growing interest in this type of vacation.
According to Google data, this relates to a massive increase in the number of people searching for the term ‘golf and spa breaks for couples.’
In August 2023, this term had just 40 monthly searches. However, since July of this year, the search volume has risen to a peak of 590 monthly searches.
Corrie Renton, Director of Glencor Golf Holiday, explains this as couples wanting to save money on holidays and preferring holidays together instead of with their friends.
Research also suggests the rise in women’s golf and the appearance of golfing WAGs at major tournaments are both factors.
