At the beginning of the month, I learned that Red Sea Global appointed Jon Brook as the General Manager of Shura Links, reflecting their commitment to strong leadership and strategic growth.
Recognizing that this is an unconventional golf club development project, I felt compelled to seek inspiration from Jon Brook about the Shura Links project.
What excites you the most about your new role as GM of Shura Links?
Red Sea Global’s vision and ground-breaking approach to regenerative tourism were profoundly inspiring, and they attracted me to this new opportunity.
With Golf Saudi‘s support, I look forward to playing a key role in showcasing The Red Sea to the golfing world and assembling a team of talented golf specialists, positioning Saudi Arabia at the forefront of global tourism.
What role does Shura Links play in Red Sea Global’s plans?
Shura Links is the first step towards making the Red Sea and Saudi Arabia a premier golfing destination on the world stage.
The mission is to facilitate the uptake and participation in golf by delivering world-class facilities, operational excellence, and implementing industry best practices to position the Kingdom as an exceptional golfing nation.
What steps have you taken to create a unique and attractive golf experience and maximize the number of golf tourists?
Shura Links was designed by the world-renowned golf course architect Brian Curley. His philosophy was always to create a course that blended with and worked in close harmony with the natural surroundings.
This philosophy means we can offer 5 or 6 teeing platforms per hole, so the course can play between 7500 yards and 5200 yards. This means a first-class golfing experience for every standard of golfer, from beginners to touring professionals.
We have also created a 2-acre family-friendly putting course adjacent to the iconic Foster and Partner-designed clubhouse.
This area will allow us to introduce new players to the game in a relaxed and laid-back environment. A perfect place to spend time with friends and family as the sun sets over The Red Sea.
How have you attracted top talent to join your team?
Attracting top talent to The Red Sea is an extraordinary opportunity. Our commitment to eco-friendly practices enhances the playing experience and resonates with golfers who value environmental responsibility.
This approach can help us attract top talent from both local and international sources while creating a responsible golfing environment.
By emphasizing education and development in the sport, Red Sea Global can foster a new generation of golfers while championing sustainability.
Additionally, our world-class facilities are aimed at developing players. They can help us cultivate a strong golf culture, positioning us as a premier choice for those looking to excel in the sport while contributing to a sustainable future.
