How could Burhill Golf Club prove its quality?

By: December 17, 2015

Burhill Golf Club has been chosen to host Regional Qualifying for golf’s most famous event, The Open Championship, starting in 2016. It is a good opportunity to the recently hired general manager Matthew Hazelden to prove his skills and capabilities. This will be the 145th  Open Championship and it will be held at Royal Troon in July.

Thus, Burhill Golf Club became one of the 13 Regional Qualifying venues around the United Kingdom and will play host until 2020.

Since opening in 2001, the New Course’s undulating, fast greens, strategic bunkering and meandering water hazards were tested in Senior Open Qualifying and on the EuroPro Tour.

The 2016 qualifier set to be held on June 20th, professionals and amateurs with a handicap of scratch or better will vie to make it through to Final Qualifying.
