How can Club Car address the growing demand for electric golf carts?

By: April 29, 2024

Over the course of the past three years, Club Car has faced four significant events that have impacted the organization. Ingersoll Rand Inc. (NYSE:IR) sold Club Car to the global private equity firm Platinum Equity for cca $1.68 billion in 2021.

In 2022, Club Car acquired Garia – founded in 2005 by Anders Lynge – from the Danish Lars Larsen Group.

Most recently, Platinum Equity is in the early stages of working with Goldman Sachs advisers to sell Club Car, generating over $200m EBITDA.

Club Car’s investment in Poland

Club Car has opened a new 3,300sqm factory in Poland to meet increasing demand for its electric vehicles.

The recently established Club Car Manufacturing Facility located in Mielec, Poland (Northeast of Krakow, 1h45min. drive by car) will significantly contribute to increasing European production lines.

Thus enhancing Club Car’s capacity to cater to a growing and diverse market segment.

The state-of-the-art facility has tripled the production lines and has enabled Club Car to optimize its manufacturing processes, ensuring the timely delivery of its products.

Marco Natale, Vice President EMEA for Club Car, said:

“With this investment, Club Car will better serve customers in the European utility market, where many industry and manufacturing, leisure and tourism, and municipal organisations are modernising and electrifying their fleets.”

Food for thoughts

The significance of value-added services (VAS) in business cannot be overstated. VAS serves multiple purposes, such as enhancing customer experience, establishing a competitive edge, generating additional revenue streams, strengthening customer loyalty, and ultimately improving customer retention.

Despite all these advantages, I have encountered 2 value-added services/solutions at Club Car in the last 10 years:

IOTee is a true golf cart fleet management solution that focuses on the fundamental aspects of fleet management, prioritizing essentials like cart access and booking capabilities.

I found only one solution for F&B ordering, which is Tagmarshal’s 2Way screens.

It would be highly convenient to have a mechanism in place that enables ordering new golf equipment, such as balls, clubs, gloves, and other related accessories, directly from the golf cart whilst playing on the course.

Given that a solution already exists for ordering food and beverages, the implementation of a similar solution for the aforementioned purpose would not appear to pose a significant challenge.
