When I introduced the Wilson Fit AI mobile app-based fitting tool last December, I emphasized the importance for golf equipment manufacturers prioritizing buying outcomes over just technology.
Although not AI-powered, the new Titleist golf ball fitting application is Trackman-compatible. The Titleist Golf Ball Fitting App is a tool for fitters to help golfers select the ball that performs best for their game.
It combines individual golfer information with launch monitor data from 12 representative shots with
- a half-wedge,
- full-swing pitching wedge,
- 7-iron, and
- driver with a Titleist Pro V1 golf ball (or a Pro V1 RCT golf ball for limited flight fittings).
The result of each shot is fed into a proprietary algorithm developed by data gathered from thousands of Titleist golf ball fittings.
A fitting using the Titleist Golf Ball Fitting App can be completed in 15 minutes. The fitter conducting the session will ask the golfer about their
- current golf ball choice,
- handicap,
- typical green firmness,
- preferred golf ball feel,
- preferred trajectory window and more.
Shots that are not representative of the golfer’s typical playing style or usual mishits can be discarded and re-hit.
The process emphasizes the golfer’s scoring shots, with the knowledge that every Titleist golf ball can achieve maximum distance off the tee with a proper driver fitting.
Jeremy Stone, Senior Vice President Golf Ball Marketing and U.S. Sales, says
“Our goal with the new fitting app is to make golf ball fitting more accessible and convenient.
The Titleist Golf Ball Fitting App gives us the scale to meet more golfers on the fitting tee and provide them an accurate golf ball recommendation that is unique to them.”
