Before I would present you the Glenmuir Spring Summer 2021 Collection, it is important to know, especially if you are a pro-shop owner/manager or a golf retailer what are the TOP 3 activewear trends:
- Nostalgia / Retro Reboot: the style of the 80s & 90s are coming back (see Puma Golf RS-G golf shoes);
- Sustainable style: I cannot emphasize enough customers want to know where and how their golf apparels were made + demanding transparency. Would you believe that green is the new black?
- Multitask activewear / Athleisure trend: people today prefer to wear multitask activewear. They want to combine style with comfort. Even in the luxury category, we can find the rise of luxury athleisure wear or activewear.
The global activewear market is expected to reach nearly $547 billion by 2024, according to Allied Market Research. This means an average 6.5% annual growth.
Glenmuir Spring Summer 2021 Collection
Now let’s see how well Glenmuir is following the above-mentioned trends in their new Spring Summer 2021 Collection. The collection will be available online and instore from February 2021.
The Glenmuir Spring Summer 2021 Collection is with vibrant colors Magenta, Spring Green, and Ascot Blue with a focus on sustainable performance fabrics and natural performance.
The polo shirts are made from active fabric which is highly functional with moisture-wicking technology delivering breathability, +40 UV protection, thermoregulation, and enhanced freedom of movement.
White Marl/White and Garnet Marl/Navy are new colors now available in style g.Campbell, whilst White/Light Grey Marl and White/Tahiti are a sophisticated addition to the micro stripe style g.Torrance (both RRP £45).
For Ladies’ the favorite classic performance polo shirt g.Paloma sees the addition of Light Grey Marl, the marl yarn adds depth whilst looking clean and crisp, this color is also available in the men’s complementary style g.Deacon making it the perfect option for teamwear (both RRP £40).
Brand new for SS21 are Men’s cotton knitwear styles g.Drummond, g.Garrion and g.Balloch made from 100% pure combed premium cotton from renewable sources.
g.Drummond incorporates traditional herringbone intarsia with a contemporary twist using bold contrast color blocking, whilst g.Garrion and g.Balloch are sporty color-blocked designs combining bold colors and beautiful marl yarns.
g.Willa and g.Gaelle are new ladies’ knitwear styles. g.Willa has ribbed details across the shoulders and sleeves with subtle contrast tipping detail whilst g.Gaelle combines sparkling rhinestones with a sporty color-blocked collar and cuff (all RRP £70).
Glenmuir’s 2-layer Storm Bloc.® Waterproof Jacket for men g.Elrick is also now available in a Navy Camo/Light Grey option. The lightweight technical jacket is made from a soft-touch interlock fabric that is quiet and enhances the freedom of movement with its 4-way stretch properties.
In addition, the technical fabric is highly waterproof, windproof, and breathable creating a modern playable outer layer choice (RRP £80).
Performance shorts g.Keble sees a vibrant Ascot Blue introduced (RRP £50).
Made from active functional fabric with moisture-wicking yarn including a silicone grip tape waistband and deep scorecard pocket, these shorts would look great teamed with g.Murray in Light Grey Marl/White/Ascot Blue or a fresh White g.Deacon performance polo shirt.
My verdict
Although Glenmuir is not as brave as Puma Golf, we can say that they are following quite well the latest, biggest activewear trends.
You will not stand out with the pieces of the Glenmuir Spring Summer 2021 Collection, but you will feel really good thanks to the high-quality materials.
We will neither have to worry too much of the environmental concerns.
