I am always very curious about what Wilson Golf will bring out and when he will regain his old glory.
As a marketing professional, I cannot afford not to think about whether the golf equipment manufacturer is using certain words (e.g. for tour-level players) just for the sake of sales or their statement is correct.
When I was studying the new Wilson Staff Model CB Irons I found, for instance, that they have got only 20 grams of tungsten. Wilson put 20-grams of tungsten weighting in the toe of the long and mid irons.
Just to understand the differences:
- Titleist CNCPT Irons have got at least 100 grams of tungsten;
- TaylorMade P790 Ti Irons have got up to 119 grams of tungsten.
Wilson Golf says the new Wilson Staff Model CB Irons are an evolution of the award-winning Tour V6 Irons, the most popular choice among Wilson
players on the PGA TOUR including three-time Major Champion Padraig Harrington, Kevin Streelman, Kevin Tway, and Ricky Barnes.
Just like in Wilson Staff D7 Forged Irons, D7 Irons, Wilson Staff FG Tour V6 irons 8620 carbon steel is used.
In the new Wilson Staff Model CB Irons, the forged 8620 carbon steel face is backed by an integrated Impact Mass Area, providing a solid, muscle back-like feel, but with a cavity back design, delivering maximum consistency during shot shaping.
The face of these irons is precision-milled along with the scorelines a carryover from the Staff Model Blade.
Jon Pergande Manager of Golf Club Innovation said
“The Wilson Staff Model CB Irons combine the best of V6 and Staff Model blade to create our most advanced forged irons, the CB Irons will meet all the needs for the advanced player.”
